Your Choice for Invisalign in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre

Your Choice for Invisalign in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre

If you are unhappy because of crooked, crowded, or poorly spaced teeth, sometimes porcelain veneers are not enough to transform your smile. And for a crossbite or overbite, orthodontic treatment usually necessary. But before your nightmares of metal braces and come to life, consider a much more comfortable alternative from Dr. James DeFinnis at Back Mountain Dental: Invisalign clear braces.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign clear braces are a series of custom, clear aligners that gradually shift and correct teeth. Dr. DeFinnis will take 3-D images of your teeth, plan the aligners, and then send the information to the Invisalign lab. Our office will then receive your complete set of aligners and you will come pick them up. You’ll wear each aligner for about two weeks, and you’ll come in for evaluations about every four or six weeks so Dr. DeFinnis can check on your progress.

What Conditions Can Invisalign Correct?

Just like metal braces, Invisalign clear braces can correct a variety of conditions:

Crowded teeth: This occurs when your jaw does not have enough room to fit your teeth. Crowded teeth can promote tooth decay, prevent proper tooth function, and cause gum disease.

Spaced teeth: If you have too much room in your mouth, your teeth can be spaced. This condition can also increase your chances of tooth decay and gum disease.

Crossbite: When you upper and lower jaws are misaligned, and one or more of your upper teeth bite on the inside of your lower teeth, this is called a crossbite. This condition puts you at risk for premature tooth wear.

Overbite: This occurs when your upper teeth bite over your lower teeth. Dental developmental problems such as genetics, thumb-sucking, can cause overbite. The condition can lead to gum issues, wear on the lower teeth, or painful jaw and joint problems.

Underbite: Your lower teeth bite under your upper teeth. Upper jaw undergrowth, lower jaw overgrowth, and missing teeth can all lead to underbite. This condition can interfere with proper tooth function, lead to tooth wear, and cause painful jaw and joint problems.

Why Should I Choose Invisalign?

Inivisalign clear braces are a great choice for adults and teens because they are smooth and comfortable, they are invisible (only you and your dentist will know you are wearing them), they are removable (you can take them out to eat drink, clean your teeth, or for special occasions), and you only need to wear them for between nine and 18 months (braces take about two years)!
