If your teeth are crooked, and you would love to have a more attractive smile, but you just can’t stand the thought of wearing metal braces, you’re in the right place. I’m Dr. James DeFinnis, and I understand the importance of a sophisticated image.
As a cosmetic dentist and a professional, I know that a person’s appearance has a significant impact on his or her self confidence and success. I wouldn’t want to wear metal braces, so I certainly don’t expect my adult patients to wear them. I offer porcelain veneers and Invisalign as alternatives to metal orthodontic braces.
For people with slight misalignment of their front teeth, porcelain veneers provide an immediate solution. Instead of wearing metal braces for two years, veneers will “straighten” your teeth in about two visits. Made of esthetic dental porcelain, veneers are thin shells, hand made in a dental lab, that fit on the front surface of teeth. I secure veneers with permanent dental adhesive, and they are known to be durable, lasting restorations. Another benefit is that veneers don’t stain. You’ll never need to whiten your front teeth once you have veneers.
If your case requires a more traditional orthodontic modality, we can discuss Invisalign clear braces. While Invisalign is not an instant solution, it does take about half the time of metal braces, and the aligners are both clear and removable. Each Invisalign aligner is made of clear acrylic, and it uses gentle pressure to move teeth toward ideal alignment. You’ll wear one aligner for about two weeks, then move to the next in your series. Much like a retainer, Invisalign aligners can be removed when you want to eat, brush your teeth, clean your aligner, or attend a special event.
