How Much Does a Beautiful Smile Really Matter?

There’s some pretty interesting research to back up the lifelong benefits of a beautiful smile.  A study by DePauw University revealed that people who smile boldly and brightly in their senior yearbook photos are more likely to marry in their 20s and be happy in their marriage long term. Even earlier in life, folks who only grinned in childhood photos report a higher incidence of divorce during middle age and the years that follow. Researchers think that smiling is connected to certain personality traits and one’s disposition. Those that smile may be more open and interactive during life.

Another study, this one by Kelton Research, found that job candidates who underwent teeth whitening prior to interviews were more likely to get hired and receive a better salary.

According to an American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry poll, people with a nice looking smile are considered more attractive to the opposite sex. They’re also seen as more friendly, intelligent, and successful.

I share all this with you to show, a smile that you feel good about can affect you on the inside and the outside! Not only will others view you with favor, but you’ll feel better about yourself, as well.
