Enjoy Frances Slocum State Park Before the Temperature Drops

Located just five miles from Dallas and just ten miles from Wilkes Barre, the Francis Slocum State Park is conveniently close to the Back Mountain Dental office.

1,035 acres of scenic northeastern Pennsylvania’s Luzerne County is occupied by the Frances Slocum State Park.   The lake is the highlight of the park and forms a horseshoe shape covering nearly 165 acres. Guests can enjoy camping, hiking, and biking, as well as picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, and hunting on the grounds. Proper gear and precaution is required for all activities.  During the winter, sledding, ice fishing, and ice skating are also available. Guests can choose from over 13 miles of trails to hike and bike, ranging in individual distances from 0.3 miles to 3.2 miles.

A park environmental educator hosts natural, cultural, historical, and recreational programs from March to November. Be sure to check out the rich history of the park and the story of its namesake, Francis Slocum, while you are there.

Get your family outside for some fall fun before the weather gets too cold!  For more information about the Frances Slocum State Park, please visit the website or call (570) 696-3525.
